In 2012 Sara won two International Webby Awards for 'I Will Never Be Cut'. Known as the 'on-line Oscars' one was A Webby Judges Prize for the Best Single Documentary on the web and the other The People's Voice - for the Best Documentary. There were 10,000 entries for the awards from across the globe, so it was a great endorsement from both the panel of judges and ordinary viewers.
In 2011 Sara was one of 3 finalists for the prestigious Rory Peck Sony Impact Award 2011 for her film ‘I will Never Be Cut’ which she made as a self-shooting director-producer in Kenya about two teenage girls resisting circumcision.
In 2004 Sara was a finalist for the Rory Peck Sony Impact Award 2004 for 'Wounded Soldiers.' This film was directed and filmed by Sara and was the lead story on Channel 4 News. The film had extraordinary access, and investigated the numbers of American soldiers wounded during the Iraq war. Michael Moore used a clip of it in his film 'Fahrenheit 9.11.'
In 2008 Sara was the camera woman working with the director Teresa Smith on 'Summit About The Boy’ (Sara also acted as camera/director for some scenes). This was the winner of the 2008 IVCA Clarion Awards for Television. In this film a young street boy called Lee was given special access to the question and answer session with President Bush and Tony Blair at the G8 summit in Germany.
In 2002 Sara produced sections of the series of the award winning 'Commanding Heights' a six part series which included interviewing world leaders such as President Clinton and many other Heads of State, including Lech Walesa. It included interviews with most of today's most influential political thinkers and politicians and won many awards, amongst these was the Gold Award for Best Series on National and International Affairs, and had various Emmy nominations.
EGA Elizabeth Garratt Anderson School has had a makeover. Once known as the School from Rising hell Street it has transformed itself in a revolutionary rebranding process. This film gives 7 of its school girls a chance to tell the story of their school and help direct a film. Sept 2007 Shortlisted for LEPA (London Education Partnership Award).
Sara has a BTEC Advanced Award in ‘Surviving Hostile Regions’. (She was also CBR checked 2006, 2009 and again in 2011 in order to direct childrens TV and many times later too.)
